ALWAYS SAY YES TO THE ADVENTURE.

EVEN WHEN IT SCARES THE HELL OUT OF YOU.
ESPECIALLY THEN. FALL. FLY. BUT

CALL MOM FIRST.

SHE’LL WANT TO KNOW WHERE SHE CAN REACH YOU.

HELLO

Thanks for stopping by! We’re Stone and Tracie. We laugh a lot.

Well me, I’m just Tracie. I’m the one writing this. I was born in India, but I’ve lived in the Middle East and South Africa for a significant portion of my life. I’m the reason we’ve spelt “Harbour” the way the Queen would. I also freelance as a designer, copywriter and brand consultant. Then there’s Stone, the other half of this operation. He’s all-American and the one with the rockstar name. His day job sometimes takes him to places far away, for weeks or months together. So I’m probably the one you’re going to see most of the time, especially for weekday shoots.

Between the two of us, we’ve lived in and backpacked through a whole bunch of countries. But for the moment, we live in Miami. Other places we call home include Johannesburg, Dubai, Vegas, and a little town in India that you’ve never heard of.

Things we are serious about:

1. Not taking ourselves too seriously.
2. Friendship.
3. Thankfulness.
4. Outdoor gear.
5. Foods.

Things we don't like:

1. Fear.
2. Shame.
3. Fat-free anything.
4. Busy busy busy
5. Disposable plastic

Why “Star & Harbour”? We get asked that a lot. When we started this gig, we asked ourselves what we were really about, why we did what we did and what inspired us. Inevitably, It always came back to two things. Our insatiable yearning to stuff our lives into a couple of backpacks and go exploring far and wide, in search of extraordinary, outlandish adventure, strange new lands and peoples. And our deep love for the simple, familiar joys of home, family, friends, community. To madly fly for the stars, but always have safe harbour to come home to. The two have always been somewhat at odds for us, since the pursuit of the one has often come at the sacrifice of the other. But we are far from alone in our quest for equilibrium. And as we said somewhere our Home page, here we applaud the courage to pursue both.

We love to channel our inner-journalists, so we go looking for stories that need telling, and sometimes, if we are lucky, they find us. You can check out some of our editorial work here.

We also love capturing moms and dads and children and couples in love, weddings and celebrations and all the heart-moments that are about deep and present relationships.

As you can tell by now, we love the roads less travelled. But we also appreciate that adventure comes in all kinds of packages. Some of the bravest people we’ve met have never owned a passport or had the many privileges we take for granted every day. So we are always a little awed and humbled to capture what adventure, home and family look like to different people in different places and times.

We believe that everybody needs a village. Ours includes two sets of parents, three sisters, a niece, several aunts and uncles, and a truckload of friends that we wish we could cart with us everywhere.

We hope that our pictures and words inspire you to find your adventure, and your village.

Call, text or email us anytime. Sometimes we’re crossing borders faster than we can swap sim cards, so we might miss a call, but we always reply to email. We love meeting new people, so we’d be glad to coffee it out and see what we can do for you.
